Evaluating the effect of Tetrahydrocannabinol (∆9-THC) extracted from Cannabis sativa plant on spatial memory consolidation in rats
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background As the point of physiology, memories form changes in the conducting message in the neural webs. These changes cause the formation of long-term potentiation. Δ9-THC is a psychotropic component of Cannabis sativa plant. Studies show this matter can bind Cannabinoid receptor in CA1 area of Hippocamp. Thus the aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of aqua extraction Cannabis sativa seed on spatial memory consolidation in rats.

Differential effects of THC- or CBD-rich cannabis extracts on working memory in rats.
Cannabinoid receptors in the brain (CB(1)) take part in modulation of learning, and are particularly important for working and short-term memory. Here, we employed a delayed-matching-to-place (DMTP) task in the open-field water maze and examined the effects of cannabis plant extracts rich in either Delta(9)-tetrahydrocannabinol (Delta(9)-THC), or rich in cannabidiol (CBD), on spatial working an...

Materials and methods 40 male wistar rats (3-4 month, 320-260 g) were completely divided into 4 experimental groups and control group. Cannabis sativa seed was extracted with Soxhlet apparatus. To test spatial memory, Morris water mazemaze (7 days,4 trails) was used. Experimental groups with 50 mg.kg, 100 mg.kg, 150 mg.kg, 210 mg.kg were injected in the peritoneal (IP) orderly and after one hou...

Cannabinoids are a group of 21 carbon terpenophenolic compounds produced uniquely by Cannabis sativa and Cannabis indica species.[1,2] These plant-derived compounds may be referred to as phytocannabinoids. Although delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the primary psychoactive ingredient, other known compounds with biologic activity are cannabinol, cannabidiol, cannabichromene, cannabigerol, te...

Marijuana (Cannabis sativa) is one of the most widely used illicit drugs in the world. Its use is associated with impairments in cognitive function. We previously reported that Δ(9)-tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ(9)-THC), the primary psychoactive component of marijuana, impaired spatial working memory in the radial maze task when injected intracortically (IC) into the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) o...

Background and Objective: The resin secretions of Cannabis sativa are called Hashish, which has medicinal and psychological properties. The most important psychoactive compound of this plant is THC (Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol), which can stimulate cannabinoid receptors in the body. This study was carried out to evaluate the effect of hydroalcoholic extract of Cannabis sativa on cell survival ...
